Reference is made to the current pesticides stock system in many countries in the central region and the important to record and monitor their inventories of pesticides and their usage, and to assist them in managing the most efficient usage, and to help reduce the creation of obsolete pesticides and enable countries to plan strategies for responding more effectively to Desert Locust outbreak.
Furthermore, the need for the implementation of efficient Pesticides Management System (PMS) that has been developed by FAO designed to facilitate the collection and sharing of information on pesticide stocks, movements and registers of permitted products. The Commission is organizing a Regional Pesticides Stock Management Workshop, in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, during the period 18-21 October 2015.
The workshop follows the recommendation made during the 29th Session of the Commission, stating that:
“A Workshop is to be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for Pesticides Stock Management System (PSMS) in the breeding countries, to be included in the DL Centers, in coordination with Pesticides Group and the Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Western Region”.
The aim of the PSM SYSTEM is:

to allow countries to manage their stocks of pesticides more effectively,
-
to record inventories of obsolete and usable pesticides and other materials contaminated with pesticides,
-
to assess the comparative risks of pesticide stores and developing a safeguarding strategy,
-
to maintain a register of authorised pesticides,
-
to manage the movement, use and disposal of pesticides and pesticide containers.
