Responding to the repercussions of the Desert Locust crisis in eastern Africa and the Horn of Africa
In the context of the ongoing efforts undertaken by the Secretariat of the FAO Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Central Region to mitigate the consequences of the Desert Locust crisis, which affected several countries in the regions ( Arabian Peninsula, the Horn of Africa and East Africa). The Commission’s response actively and support affected countries as follows;
- Organizing training course on Desert Locust survey and control operations for 25 plant protection officers in Rwanda, where the Commission Master Trainers provided technical assistance and conduct the training course from 9-14 March 2020.
- The commission also supported locust activities in Uganda. The Commission Locust sprayer expert carried out on job training on the use of the new ULV Desert Locust sprayers for control operations.
