Total area surveyed 2090 ha. Light rains fell in El-Sheikh El-Shazly and moderate to heavy rains fell on the inner desert areas to the west of Abu-Ramad and Halaib during the 2nd decade of May. Ecological conditions became un-favourable for locust breeding in southeast Egypt where the vegetation cover was dry at most of the surveyed areas with low to high densities and soil was dry in most survey sites.
