During October 2014; the Desert Locust situation deteriorated in Sudan particularly in the River Nile State where intensive control operations were carried out against numerous hopper bands of various instars that detected in the western parts of the State. Control operations also conducted at a few locations in the summer belt of the Red Sea State where hopper bands and scattered gregarious and solitarious adults were reported. By the end of the month, limited control executed in Kassala against hopper groups and in the south eastern parts of the Northern State closer to the borders with the River Nile. Mature and immature solitary scattered adults observed in some surveyed points of the other summer breeding areas in North Kordofan and White Nile States.
